At the Jul 27, 2026 Senate Finance Committee hearing (already tracked as 2026-07-senate-finance-hearing-notice), the Texas Comptroller's Office reported that only 20 of 138 qualified data centers under the sales-tax exemption program had been audited, with 6 found out of compliance (at least 4 on employment requirements, 1 on building size, and 1 on a lapsed power agreement), all of which must repay previously waived taxes.
